Platinum Stars defender Vuyo Mere rallies his troops ahead of their crunch CAF Confederation Cup tie against Alegrian outfit MC Algers on Friday evening.
Dikwena, who are bottom of Group B with two points from four games, take on leaders MC Alger in their penultimate group stage encounter at the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in Algers, Algeria this evening.
The Rustenburg-based side, who have recently appointed Peter Butler as their new coach in place of Cavin Johnson, need no less than a victory to have any hopes of remaining in the competition beyond the group stage.
“A win is very crucial. We want to give ourselves a chance so that when we finish with three points, other teams can do us favours," Mere told his club's website.
"We have to focus on winning this game. We are playing away so the atmosphere won’t be the same.
"We know about their supporters who will be out in numbers. It’s not going to be easy. We are expecting a tough game."
The Stars skipper has also backed his side's preparations for the clash, insisting that they will compete just as they do in every game they play.
“Everything went according to plan. We did everything I think we should do. We did our homework on them. We are ready from the players’ perspective. We know what is at stake.
“We are hopeful. Every game that we play in we are competing. We want to do well for ourselves and the team."
