It looks ever more likely that the sale of Thanda Royal Zulu’s newly-acquired Absa Premiership status to AmaZulu will go ahead, though the deal was not rubber-stamped by the PSL on Thursday.
PSL CEO Mato Madlala says the league has requested more information from both parties before making a final decision on the sale, but admitted the league wanted to reach finality on the subject sooner rather than later so as not to hold up preparations for next season.
“There are various items that are not yet finalised – more information from the seller and the buyer. So it was not approved‚” Madlala told Times Live.
“It’s open. There is a possibility [the sale will go through]. But there were two or three things that were not clear.
“We are still going to engage the buyer and the seller to clarify those issues that were not clear from their documents.
“And once we have that‚ then I have been tasked to round-robin the members of Exco‚ and to give a decision.”
“Hopefully we will start engaging them from tomorrow [Friday]‚ and over the weekend‚ depending on how quickly they can do what they need to do. And then we can give answers.”
