KickOff.com has established that former Bafana Bafana midfielder Teko Modise could further his career with Cape Town City.
The 34-year-old recently left Mamelodi Sundowns as a free agent after the club announced that they will not exercise a one-year option on his contract.
Modise spent six-and-a-half years with the African champions following his arrival from Orlando Pirates back in 2011.
“Teko met with City yesterday regarding a move to the Mother City,” a source close to the Brazilians told this website. “He could be unveiled as City’s new player very soon as negotiations are still ongoing.”
Meanwhile, City boss John Comitis confirmed that Modise’s agent had made contact with the Citizens.
“One can’t simply ignore someone of his stature, you know,” Comitis told KickOff.com. “The challenge is that we’ll have to see where he’ll fit in with guys like Leobo [Manyama] and [Ayanda] Patosi playing a similar role in the midfield.
“But look it will be great to have that kind of depth,” Comitis concluded.
