Veteran striker Herico Botes tells KickOff.com he is determined to continue playing, irrespective of what eventually happens at Platinum Stars.
Botes, who managed 29 appearances and four goals in domestic competitions this past season, is out of contract with Dikwena on Friday but has a 12-month option on his deal which is still to be exercised.
And while Stars seem to be dragging their feet over the extension, Botes is already planning for top-flight football in the 2017/18 campaign.
“I still want to play and I am confident that I will still be playing in the PSL next season,” he tells KickOff.com.
“I know that people will want to judge me based on age but I still feel fit enough to compete at this level. Though I am already busy with the CAF C Licence which I do over weekends, I feel I can still play on in the PSL,” says the man who turns 38 in December.
With regards to his contract with Dikwena, who have new coach Peter Butler coming in, Botes says he remains in the dark.
“I signed a deal running up to the end of this month with an option of another [year], which the club hasn’t taken. That option was meant to have been taken in April but at that time the club was not in a good position so I chose not to focus on that. Nothing has been communicated to me besides the players who are not in the CAF squad should report back next week,” he explains.
Dikwena left today for Algeria where they play MC Alger in a CAF Confederation Cup group match on Friday.
