Platinum Stars forward Ndumiso Mabena appears certain to remain at the club with negotiations for a new deal now having reached an advanced stage.

Mabena’s contract at Stars runs up on Friday – the same night that Stars will be in Algeria for a CAF Confederation Cup date with MC Alger.

The player’s representative Francesco Ferreri confirms that though they are yet to finalise a new contract, talks are at an advanced stage.

“Yes, we are still talking with the club and the negotiations are now at an advanced stage, but we are yet to finalise on a new deal,” Ferreri tells while at Stars' headquarters in Rustenburg on Monday.

Mabena joined Stars from Pirates three years ago and has played regularly during his time with the club, establishing himself as the club’s main forward. He scored four goals and contributed eight assists in 30 appearances this past season.
