Dikwena eyeing Mthethwa deal

Posted: 26 June 2017 Time: 09:43 has learned that Sibusiso Mthethwa is on his way to Platinum Stars ahead of the 2017/18 Premier Soccer League season.

The defender will see his contract with University of Pretoria come to an end on June 30, having initially joined AmaTuks at the start of 2015/16 season from Free State Stars.

The defender was club captain when Tuks were relegated in 2016 and featured in 21 league appearances this past season as the University team finished 12th on the NFD table under Shaun Bartlett.


“Sbusiso Mthethwa is on his way to Platinum Stars as of next month as his contract expires at the end of this month with Tuks,” a source tells

“The player has also removed himself from the [Pretoria University] players' Whatsapp group.”

The 26-year-old, who started his career as a winger before being converted to a centre-back, played 17 league matches for Ea Lla Koto when he was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2012/13 season.

Mthwethwa will be reunited at Dikwena with Namibian defender William Mwedihanga, who was his teammate at University of Pretoria in 2015/16 season before leaving the club at the end of that campaign.
