Mnyamane: More in it for SuperSport

SuperSport United midfielder Thabo Mnyamane believes they have as much, if not more, to play for as Orlando Pirates in today's Nedbank Cup final.

The two sides meet for a second consecutive year in this particular cup final, with SuperSport having come out tops last time around in Polokwane.

This time the duel takes place at Durban's iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, with kick-off set for 20h15 this evening.

Mnyamane has argued that while Pirates are looking to salvage a disastrous season, which culminated with their lowest ever Absa Premiership finish in the PSL era, Matsatsantsa are also looking to make amends for their failed Telkom Knockout campaign and league title challenge.

"Obviously they are trying to make up for their season so it's not going to be an easy game, but we're also trying to get silverware," said Mnyamane.

"We were just unlucky in the Telkom [Knockout] and also in the league, so we are also looking for silverware this season.

"For us, we're looking to this cup final as a great opportunity to win silverware for ourselves this season."

The former AmaTuks attacker also feels that with this evening's clash marking Stuart Baxter official exit from the club, following is re-appointment as the Bafana Bafana boss, it has become even more special than any other cup final.

"The team have been managing the situation very well. We went to TP Mazembe without him [Baxter] and we got a great result," he added.

"We've been balancing between him being here and being away [with the national team], and it hasn't been a train smash.

"We're very professional as players and management has helped us to cope with it very well, and this being his last official game with the club is obviously going to be a special one for him and for us as a collective."
