SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter says Dean Furman’s omission from their CAF Confederation Cup squad was a decision made with the Nedbank Cup final in mind.
Furman was part of the squad this week but played no role in the goalless draw against TP Mazembe in Tshwane last night, where Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Tebogo Mokoena held the reins in the middle of the park.
Baxter has revealed that his skipper will be back in contention for a place in starting line-up for the Ke Yona final against Orlando Pirates in Durban on Saturday.
"Dean was in Nigeria. He had a little bit of knock. It was troubling him a little bit. He said he could have played,” said Baxter.
"He has been in the Congo game, Nigeria game, all the travelling. He is ever present for us. This one [the Nedbank Cup], if could have 45 minutes of Dean for the final, I have to rest him for the final,” he added.
