KickOff.com has gathered that goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi has parted ways with Free State Stars after a difficult season.

Mafoumbi was signed at the beginning of the season from Bulgarian club FK Vereya but then picked up an achilles tendon injury during pre-season and only got to make his debut in February.

The 23-year-old then went on to feature in just five games in all competitions with Thela Ngobeni staying ahead of him.

Unhappy about his situation Mafoumbi has since entered into an agreement to cut ties with the club and head back home to France.

Mafoumbi was born in France but has his roots in Congo-Brazzaville, the national team that he plays for.

He is now most likely to sign up with another French lower division club in the new season.
