Dani Alves has slammed reports he is set to join Manchester City

Juventus defender Dani Alves has hit out at reports suggesting he is on the verge of reuniting with Pep Guardiola and joining Manchester City.

The 34-year-old, who played under current City boss Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, enjoyed a massively successful, recently-completed season at Juventus.

The Brazilian, with 100 international appearances to his name, helped Juve win Serie A and the Coppa Italia, while they were also losing finalists in the Champions League.

Juve team-mate Gonzalo Higuain recently posted a video on Twitter that appeared to suggest Alves was on his way out of the club - but he quickly removed the post.

Alves, who is contracted to the Serie A side until the end of June 2018, wrote on his Twitter account: "Don't spread s***, pipa [Higuain] sent a video for me in a television programme. Don't do your job badly, please."
