Cape Town City star Lebogang Manyama tight-lipped over future

Posted: 18 June 2017 Time: 10:14

Cape Town City star Lebogang Manyama is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his future following his stellar season in Cape Town.

The Citizens skipper led his side to Telkom Knockout honours and a third-place league finish in their maiden top-flight season, scoring 13 Absa Premiership goals in the process – a tally bettering his last four seasons combined.

It is no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns have shown interest in the Bafana Bafana international, with a cryptic message left on social media on Saturday further heating up the initial interest which started in April.

Yet the player himself is keeping mum over his future, giving an intriguing reply when simply asked “What’s next?” by KicOff.com.

“A holiday,” he laughs. "I'm exhausted! No, obviously I know what you’re asking about. Look, this is football, and anything can happen. When Leciester City had their superb season, everybody wanted their players, and there was talk of so-and-so going there or there. But it never happened, but sometimes it does.

“But like I said, this is football, and you have to be ready for these kind of things. I’ve had this kind of situation before, and it doesn’t bother me. I always believe that what needs to happen, will happen. And it would only have happened if my heart said I need to go with that, and I would have accepted that decision. I will never regret any decision I take.

“But I don’t think about decisions that will happen next week – that’s beyond me. You never know, next week you might not even be here. If it happens it happens, and if it doesn’t, I’m quite happy where I am, and I just have to continue improving.”
