Free State Stars take up two-year option on contract of midfielder Goodman Dlamini

Free State Stars midfielder Goodman Dlamini will remain with the club for the next two seasons after the option on his contract was activated.

Dlamini arrived at Stars at the start of the recently-concluded PSL season after he brought and end to 10 years with AmaZulu at the end of the previous campaign.

He signed a one-year deal in the Free State with the option of a further 24 months, which Stars have taken up, keeping the playmaker at the Bethlehem-based outfit until the end of 2018/19 season.

When AmaZulu were relegated to the National First Division at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, the 29-year-old went down with the club along with S'fiso Hlanti and Marc van Heerden and, at the time, Usuthu said the trio were not for sale, with the ambition of returning to the top flight.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born midfielder started 21 matches for Stars and scored three goals as Serame Letsoaka's side finished 14th in the Absa Premiership table. They were closed to being dragged in the relegation zone but their draw in the last game of the season, against Chippa United, was enough to see them to safety.

Dlamini says he's relieved that his future has been decided early and he's enjoying the season break with his family, compared to last year after he had to wait until September to sign for Stars.

“Yes, Free State Stars have exercised my two-year option on my contract,” Dlamini tells KickOff.com.

“And this is good for me because I'm on the season break knowing my future is sorted out and it sort of lets you go home happy to enjoy the break with your family. That shows you are still wanted at the club and that is what makes me look forward to the new season.”
