Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departures of seven players following their below-par showing in the 2016/17 PSL season.
Amakhosi have revealed no fewer than seven players will depart Naturena this month, most notably Siyanda Xulu, Lucky Baloyi, Camaldine Abraw and Lewis Macha, whose contracts will be terminated by mutual consent.
“These players have contracts with the club but they did not enjoy sufficient game-time during last season and we felt it would be in their best interests as well as ours for them to pursue their careers elsewhere,” Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung said in an official club statement.
Meanwhile, Enocent Mkhabela will be allowed to make his loan stay at Platinum Stars permanent while Siphelele Mthembu’s contract will not be renewed.
Michelle Katsvairo, though, remains contracted to the Glamour Boys, although he is set to be loaned out for next term in a bid to afford him more game time.
“We have decided to revamp the squad early so that when we commence pre-season training we prepare ourselves adequately for the tough season ahead,” Motaung added.
“We owe it to our supporters to ensure that the events of the past two seasons are not repeated in the 2017/18 campaign.”
