Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris smiling again as return nears

Posted: 6 June 2017 Time: 10:58

Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris is confident he will be available for pre-season training after spending the past seven months out of action.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined with osteosis, an injury to his pubic bone caused by overloading on the body.

Morris made three substitute appearances for Owen da Gama's national U-23 side at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and subsequently only featured for the Urban Warriors in a 2-1 loss to Bidvest Wits in October last year.

Morris started feeling some discomfort during the Olympic Games and had an MRI scan in Brazil. Upon his return home, his injury worsened and another scan revealed further damage.

However, the centre-forward is making progress with his rehabilitation and is eager to reassert his value in 2017/18.

“Everything is going good and I’m very confident that I’ll be available for our pre-season and that to me is good news,” Morris tells KickOff.com.

“I’m not going to lie, it was a very frustrating time for me but I needed to put up a brave face. Things however are looking positive and I’m smiling again.

“I’m working extremely hard in the gym to get back to full fitness. I’m also aware not to rush things but I’m eager to be part of our pre-season campaign.”
