Bafana Bafana are still awaiting three players’ arrival in camp, while seven others are carrying injuries ahead of their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

The team reported for duty at the Southern Sun hotel at Monte Casino, Fourways, in the north of Johannesburg last night.

Coach Stuart Baxter confirmed that 22 of his charges are present for their first training session at the FNB Stadium on Monday afternoon, with the remaining three expected to arrive later today.

“Most of the squad have reported for camp, while the SuperSport United players are still on their way back from their CAF commitments,” confirmed Baxter on Monday afternoon.

"Dean Furman and Ronwen Williams will be here soon, while Bongani Zungu had a problem with his flight but he’s currently on his way as well,” added the Brit, who has appointed Bidvest Wits skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo as his captain.

Meanwhile, Bafana team doctor Thulani Ngwenya has recorded injuries to seven players following their opening day assessments, but replacements are unlikely as he remains hopeful of successful treatment before the match in Uyo on Saturday.

“Lebogang Manyama has a right-knee injury, which is actually one he has been carrying for a some time while receiving treatment, and we will continue to monitor and treat him,” said Ngwenya.

“Andile Jali picked up an injury to his right-side groin muscle during his club side's last game and because he had to fly in for camp, he hasn’t t received any treatment. We will begin treatment and expect some improvement.

“Tokelo Rantie also got injured in his last game with his club, he has a bone contusion on his right-side big toe, which we will be treating. But he is also carrying an injury to his right knee, which requires a scan.

“Tiyani Mabunda was out for three weeks with a sprained ankle and has been recovering. We will continue with treatment but he will be fine.

“Aubrey Ngoma has a groin injury that he has been receiving treatment at his club and we will continue to monitor him.

“Rivaldo Coetzee picked up a hamstring injury at his club and has been recovering. We’ve picked up that he is not 100 percent and has some restrictions but he will undergo a scan and treatment.

“Lastly Erick Mathoho suffered a concussion in training with at his club but he has shown improvement. We will monitor his progress."
