Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi has downplayed the absence of key personnel as he backs the team to gain an advantage at home to Esperance.
The defending CAF Champions League champions host the Tunisian outfit at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this evening, in a battle for top spot in Group C, which also features Ethiopian side St George and Congolese giants AS Vita.
The Brazilians come into tonight's encounter off the back of a resounding 3-1 win ovet Vita, while Esperance were pegged back in a 0-0 draw at home to St George.
The former Bidvest Wits captain, who netted in Kinshasha last week, has urged hunger and determination from his teammates in order to get the necessary points and take control of the group.
"Totally it's not going to be easy playing against Esperance but, of course, you're not going to get an easy victory and that is very normal at this stage [of the competition]," he added.
"It's going to be a tough one and we need each one of us to be prepared, craving for points and craving to be on top [of the group]."
With the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Khama Billiat, Anthony Laffor and RIcardo Nascimento all expected to sit out due to injury, the 27-year-old backs the rest of the squad to step up and represent the team to the best of their ability.
"There are a few injuries on our side but i think, given the opportunity, the [fit] guys will be able to come in and do the job.
"Having players on the sideline is never nice and we would have loved to have each and everyone available but, obviously, injuries are part of the game.
"I'm confident everyone given an opportunity will rise up and grab the opportunity. Everyone will play, and even the guys that are on the sidelines, we are playing for them because as a team we support one another," concluded 'Vila'.
