Neo Makua hopes for more with Ajax Cape Town after bit-part role in Absa Premiership

Ajax Cape Town midfielder Neo Makua admits he would have preferred a bit more game time this season, but was still happy with his contributions for the Ikamva side.
The former Bidvest Wits academy product found first-team opportunities few and far between in the 2016/17 campaign, having to wait until December of last year to make his first start, while he eventually ended the season with just seven appearances, with one goal and one assist.
That mean Makua was largely unable to help the Urban Warriors as they missed out on a place in the top eight on the final day of the Absa Premiership campaign, although the 24-year-old was still able to take positives from his experiences this term.
“This season has been something that I haven’t experienced throughout my football career,” Makua told the SABC. “Usually I would play frequently or it wouldn’t take me long to break into the starting eleven.
“I thought that is how it would plan out for me this season, but I wasn’t able to get regular game time – I made the match day squad quite a few times, but haven’t been able to get onto the pitch as much as I like.
“But the times I did play, it was really good for me and a great feeling. I have enjoyed myself and I’m really happy I got a chance to play towards the end of the season,” Makua concluded.
