Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt and goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs have been named the Absa Premiership Coach and Player of the Month for May respectively.
The Students clinched the Absa Premiership title last weekend thanks to four wins from six league games this month.
Josephs played an instrumental role in those victories, keeping clean sheets in the four matches from which they took maximum points.
Speaking after being handed the award, Josephs told the official PSL: "I was just happy that I could help the team. To play my part towards the championship."
He added: "We have the hardest working bunch of players and that's what worked in our favour."
When asked about his plans to eventually retire from professional football, Josephs laughed off the claims, saying: "To be honest, I haven't even thought of retirement. I am still enjoying playing."
Coach Hunt added: "If you've got better players, then you've got a better chance to win trophies.
"When we lost that game at Free State Stars and Sundowns drew against Baroka, I think that was the turning point.
"Next year I won't make the trip to Bethlehem,” he joked.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro Siphiwe Tshabalala scooped the Goal of the Month award for April for his strike in the 2-2 draw against SuperSport United on April 29.
Tshabalala said: "I am a team player, so I am not too happy about individual awards if the team hasn't done well.
"I personally feel that we [Chiefs] failed as a collective. This is not tennis or golf, it's football, a team sport."
He added: "I would like to congratulate Moeneeb, coach Gavin and Bidvest Wits. They were the best team this season."
