Franklin Cale says he is weighing up his options following Highlands Park’s relegation to the NFD after just one season in the Absa Premiership.
The 34-year-old former Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns player is back in Cape Town to spend time with his family after his one-year contract with the Lions of the North expired.
“There are a few options and interest from clubs in the PSL,” Cale tells KickOff.com. “It’s important not to rush into things. I’m not desperate but, at the same time, I have to look after my family.
“My agent and I are assessing what would be best suited for me going forward. But there are a few options that I need to consider,” says Cale.
The speedy left-footed winger admits he was heartbroken that he could not help Highlands Park retain their status in their debut top-flight season.
“I guess we only have ourselves to blame, you know. But that’s life. I think also the fact that most of the younger players needed to find their feet and perhaps the step-up for the was too big to adjust,” he says.
“Personally it was a fantastic experience with the club. I thank them and will never forget their hospitality and friendship,” Cale concludes.
