Kaizer Chiefs striker Gustavo Paez has set himself a target of at least 10 goals next season.
The Venezuelan, a January signing, ended his first campaign in the PSL by scoring his fifth goal in the 1-0 victory over champions Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
“I was happy with the confidence the coach showed in me to have me start against Wits,” Páez told his club's website before describing his late winner against Wits.
“I held up my run into the box, waiting like a baby. Then, when the pass came, I pounced on the ball and slotted it past the Wits goalkeeper.”
The 27-year-old added: “Next season I want to score at least 10 goals. I think that’s a realistic target, considering I scored five times in half a season.”
Paez is determined to help Amakhosi, who came fourth in the league in 2016/17, avoid a third straight season without silverware under coach Steve Komphela.
“I am disappointed that we couldn’t win a trophy this season but we definitely plan to win trophies next season. We had 11 draws. That’s too much. We should turn these draws into more wins.
“We have done well at home this season, not losing a single game, but we need to be more effective when playing away.”
