SuperSport United are set to face TP Mazembe without the services of head coach Stuart Baxter and defender Michael Boxell due to national team assignments.

Matsatsantsa will continue their continental campaign away to the Congolese giants on June 4.

However, Baxter is set to lead Bafana Bafana when they take on Nigeria in an African Nations Cup qualifier just one week later while Boxall will travel to Russia with the New Zealand national team for the FIFA Confederations Cup.

United assistant coach Kaitano Tembo is set to take charge of the club when they take on Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Sunday, although Baxter admits that having to split his attentions between club and country has proved a very daunting task indeed.

“I will do the preparations and Kaitano will take it [the game against Mazembe]. This has been an unbelievably challenging time for me. To keep focused on one game and then get to prepare and select a squad for Nigeria,” said Baxter.

Besides Bafana’s crunch AFCON qualifier, Baxter also has to plan for SuperSport’s Nedbank Cup final encounter against Orlando Pirates, which is scheduled to take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on June 24.

Baxter continued: “I have never had this challenge in my career. Mentally, it has been very difficult. The Nigeria game will also be very difficult knowing I have to come back and take the [Nedbank] Cup final.

“I will continue to be professional. But it takes a lot of professionalism and strength to make sure you play yourself to every challenge equally,” he added.

Matsatsantsa sit top of Group D in the Caf Confederation Cup, albeit on goal difference to Mazembe, with four points from two games after securing victory against CF Mounana and drawing against Horoya recently.
