Dan Malesela urges Chippa United to take matter into their own hands

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has urged his side to take matters into their own hands in their Absa Premiership survival battle today.

The Chilli Boys visit fellow strugglers Free State Stars in an all-important final-day battle at the James Motlatsi stadium this afternoon.

Both sides find themselves skating on thin ice, with relegtion to the First Division just two points adrift, as they occupy 13th and 14th spots respectively.

Luckily for Chippa and Stars, their fate rests solely in their own hands, with the former needing at least a draw to ensure their safety, while only a win would ensure the latter of complete safety.

A defeat for the Port Elizabeth-based side could still see them survive the drop, provided Highlands Park and Baroka falter against Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town respectively.

However, Malesela refuses to expect favours from elsewhere as he demands his chargers take matters into their own hands and secure at least a point in the Free State today.

“We either win or draw… that’s it… we will be fine,” Malesela tells

"We are not going to sit back and think that we are going to rely on anybody… We got ourselves here and we've got to take ourselves out!”

All final round fixtures kick-off simultaneously this afternoon at 15h00.
