Bongi Ntuli hold onto hope in slight chances of Platinum Stars cracking a top eight spot

Platinum Stars striker Bongi Ntuli retains hope of their slim chances of sneaking into the top half of the Absa Premiership log table, with just one game to go.

Dikwena are aware that their top eight hopes no longer rest solely in their own hands as they sit in 10th place, with two points seperating them from eighth position, ahead of the final day fixtures on Saturday.

Over and above a win over SuperSport United, the Rustenburg-based side need to hope that Golden Arrows (ninth) and Ajax Cape Town (eighth) drop points, while a defeat for Maritzburg United could see them ending as high as seventh.

Ntuli believes they are well capable of doing their bit in toppling the Tshwane outfit, before waiting on other results to learn their fate, as he urges a clinical performance in front of goal from his peers.

“There’s a chance for us to make the top eight if we beat SuperSport. If other teams lose, we can be in the top eight," Ntuli told his club's website.

"I am confident that we will win this game. There’s no injured player, it’s just one [three] player on suspension, so we will be a full squad. We are going to do our best to make sure that we win the match.

“We have to improve on scoring goals. It has been a problem. We also have to work on not conceding goals. If we sort it out, the team will do well."

On his personal contribution of just three goals in 16 starts this season, the 26-year-old frontman regrets a campaign hampered by injury.

“I was injured at the beginning of this season. My only worry is that I didn’t score a lot of goals this season – that’s my only worry. Other things are well," he added.

"When you have been injured, your progress and performances take time to pick up. I missed some chances because I badly needed to score.

"When you want to score so bad – you just want to score every game – sometimes I would make mistakes.”

Kick-off of their clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow is set for 15h00.
