Daniel Cardoso insists Kaizer Chiefs still have plenty to play for on final day of PSL season

Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso insists there is still “everything to play for” on the final day of the season, despite Amakhosi destined to finish empty handed.

Amakhosi will close out a disappointing 2016/17 PSL campaign with a clash against newly-crowned champions Bidvest Wits, an occasion that is destined to leave a bitter taste in the mouths of the Chiefs players and fans, who will have to watch on as the league trophy is handed to the Clever Boys at the FNB Stadium this weekend.

And while the Glamour Boys are out of the running for silverware, as well as a top-three finish and subsequent CAF qualification for next season, Cardoso insists they can still end their season on a high by beating the new champions and securing a top-four finish.

“We have everything to play for because we lost our last two matches and cannot afford to lose a third in a row,” he said on Chiefs’ official website, referring to the 2-0 loss to Platinum Stars and 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City over the last fortnight.

“The game is very important for us and the supporters because we would like to move from the fifth position to the fourth on the log.”

“It is no secret that the season was disappointing by Kaizer Chiefs’ standards and we have been working hard in training to ensure that we close the season on a high.

“We are all very determined to finish the season on a high so as to please our supporters and sponsors.”
