SuperSport United defender Michael Boxall named in New Zealand squad for FIFA Confederations Cup

Posted: 26 May 2017 Time: 10:12

Michael Boxall has been included in New Zealand's FIFA Confederations Cup squad whilst SuperSport United teammate Jeremy Brockie misses out.

All Whites coach Anthony Hudson named a 23-man squad that will contest warm-up fixtures against Northern Ireland, Dublin club side Carbinteely FC and Belarus before competing in the 'Tournament of Champions' (June 17 - July 2).

With 22 international caps, Boxall is amongst the most experienced defenders named by Hudson with only England-based Tommy Smith having turned out more frequently than the Matsatsantsa man.

The Kiwis will be competing in Group A of the tournament and will turn out against hosts Russia, Concacaf Gold Cup winners Mexico and European champions Portugal - a game in which Boxall is likely to square up with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
