Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Rakhale says they have made it a priority to win the Nedbank Cup to make amends for their dreadful season.
Pirates progressed to their second successive Nedbank Cup final after beating Golden Arrows and will face SuperSport United - the same opponents who defeated them in last year's final in Polokwane.
A victory in the cup final on June 24 would go a long way towards redeeming the Buccaneers and give those in the stands something to cheer about in the club's 80th anniversary year.
Rakhale, who looked lively throughout the game against Abafana Bes'thende at Princess Magogo Stadium, admitted the season has been tough for the team but he is buoyed by the opportunity to win the country's premier cup competition.
"I'd say this season has been challenging for us and we tried our best and when luck doesn't go your way there's nothing much you can do," said Rakhale.
"At the moment we need to finish the season with silverware and I believe it'll make our fans happy and we owe that to ourselves and our supporters."
Having failed to beat SuperSport in last year's final, Rakhale says this year's final is a different kettle of fish despite the familiarity of the opponent.
"I can't talk much about SuperSport because it's different now this season," he added.
"It'll be another game, another platform. We only need to convert our chances and I'd say that will be the only difference."
