Travis Graham trumpets Mark Mayambela impact at Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham says midfielder Mark Mayambela’s experience and leadership has helped the team in a challenging season for the coastal outfit.

The Urban Warriors were in all sorts of trouble in November last year when they were 15th on the table with two points from seven games.

However, Ajax are now on the brink of a top-eight finish, needing a victory against Baroka in their final match of the season at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday to qualify for the MTN8 again after missing out last term.

Graham has given credit to Mayambela - who has scored three goals and provided two assists in 23 outings since joining the club in August - for adding value at Ikamva.

“His [Mayambela] experience is quite good for the players, especially for the youngsters,” Graham tells

“He gives great advice. He guides the players well and he knows what do in certain situations off the field and especially on the field he is a player you need him when things are not right.”

He adds: “You could see him in the few games that went past… showing leadership and it has worked out for us. He has scored vital goals and helped the team to do well. Having Mark is a big boost for the team.”
