Chippa United coach Dan Malesela expressed his disappointment at failing to advance to the final of the Nedbank Cup whilst offerring a frank assessment of his situation at the Chilli Boys.
The Eastern Cape-based franchise were dumped out of the competition at the semi-final stage after falling to SuperSport United in a penalty shootout following 120 minutes of goalless action.
"It was a very intense game, entertaining as well. That's what we need to do to please the supporters. We are entertainers and this is what we need to do," Malesela told SuperSport TV after the game.
"Penalties, obviously it's going to go anyway. Disappointed that we are not going to the final, thought it would be a first but the boys tried and you can't fault them.
"There were mistakes here and there but we'll soldier on, we are looking to the next game. I don't want to lie and say it's a relief, we wanted to go to the final but unfortunately it didn't happen."
When questioned as to his status with the club having recently been reinstated as head coach following a 'special leave' period, Malesela was diplomatic in his answer.
"I'm here [laughs]. I still have a contract running up till 2019, but obviously it doesn't guarantee anything," he said.
"You can negotiate things, talk about things and it depends what happens, so whether I'm staying or not, or the club wants me to stay or not is another matter that we have to sit and discuss."
