Grobler targets Nedbank glory for Baxter

SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler says winning the Nedbank Cup next month would provide a fine send off for coach Stuart Baxter.
Before that to happen though, SuperSport will have to pass the semi-final test against Chippa United today at Sisa Dukashe Stadium, having lost 3-0 to them in Wednesday's league clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Baxter was recently reappointed as the Bafana Bafana coach on a five-year deal and will officially take over the reins next month when the national team begins their 2017 AFCON qualifying campaign against Nigeria in Uyo on June 10.
Baxter guided SuperSport to this trophy last season as his side defeated Orlando Pirates 3-2 in the final at Peter Mokaba Stadium in May last year.
And Grobler, who scored the second goal on that bright and chilly day in Limpopo, says the players have made it a priority to win the trophy for Baxter before he returns to the Bafana hotseat.
"Hundred percent, it'll be a good send off. The coach has done an extremely good job with the team and I think he deserves it," says Grobler.
"I think we know that for the coach it'll be big. It'll be nice for us to send him off with another trophy and I think for the players as well.
"Like I've said, it's been a long season, we still got a long way to go so it'll be a nice little way of ending off the season having to play the off-season for the CAF Confederation Cup. So I think the team and the coach will be excited about that."
The ex-Platinum Stars hitman is well aware of the stakes heading into today's contest.
"I must say some of us spoke on Thursday that this game is huge for us because we've had a long season, which this game can make a good season for us," he adds.
"If it goes to the other way then it could just become a long season for us because we still got to play through the season [in the CAF Confederation Cup]. It will be nice to have that final coming up to look forward to, so it is a huge game for us."
Kick-off is at 15h00 in East London.
