Tovey stresses synergy under Baxter

SAFA technical director Neil Tovey has indicated U-20 coach Thabo Senong and U-17 mentor Molefi Ntseki may be kept in national team structures when Stuart Baxter takes charge of Bafana Bafana.
Baxter will see out the season with SuperSport United before starting his second stint with Bafana with an African Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo on June 10.
Former Bafana coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba brought in Owen da Gama, Senong and Ntseki to assist him when he returned to the Bafana hotseat in 2014.
Senong is currently abroad preparing Amajita for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, starting in South Korea on Sunday.
When Mashaba was fired in December last year, Da Gama oversaw Bafana in a caretaker capacity for friendlies with Guinea Bissau and Angola in March prior to Baxter's appointment.
"We are keeping the synergy going because Molefe Ntseki and Thabo Senong will still be part, but Stuart Baxter will announce his own technical team," said Tovey, who captained Bafana to their solitary AFCON triumph in 1996.
"We at SAFA are not to tell him, it is the obligation of the coach who he wants.
"But I believe the synergy will be kept within the U-17s and U-20s. It might be adjusted, it might be changed. I don't know who he is going to choose. It might change for the other teams.
"But for me the U-23s is the senior team anyway, so it's just synergy along those lines of U-23s and Bafana Bafana. Once he names his technical team we'll know how we are then going to make the synergy throughout the teams."
There has been speculation that Da Gama will not be a part of Baxter's technical team.
"I can't talk about that and it's not for me to make decisions," said Tovey when asked about Da Gama's fate.
"Obviously Stuart Baxter will come, initially because he's with the club, he might have to make adjustments when he's full-time. He'll have his own technical team and we'll see how he's going to go about that."
Baxter, who has penned a five-year contract with Bafana, will name his South Africa squad on May 25 for the clash with the Super Eagles.
