Kaizer Chiefs striker Gustavo Páez insists the team is in a strong mental place to finish the season in positive fashion.
Amakhosi, who lost 1-0 at Polokwane City on the weekend, will visit Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday night before concluding their campaign against log leaders Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on May 27.
The Soweto giants, in fifth place on the table with 47 points from 28 games, have failed to match expectations in a second year without silverware under coach Steve Komphela.
Paez, however, is determined to help the Glamour Boys return to winning ways with a view to coming back stronger next term.
“We are used to teams playing their best football against us,” Páez told the club's website. “Stars won’t be any different. It is going to be a tough match. We have recovered well from the Polokwane City loss. We are excited about the prospects of getting back to winning ways with this match.
“We have a strong mind-set here,” emphasised Páez. “Of course we are disappointed with the current form and we want to make it right.”
The Venezuelan added: “We have next season in mind, but first things first we have to win these two games and close the season on a high. We are professionals and know that we are serving a very hopeful and faithful supporters base.”
In team news, Siphiwe Tshabalala is available again after recovering from a muscle strain and fellow midfielder Willard Katsande is back from suspension, but left-back Sibusiso Khumalo (knee) and goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo (ankle) remain sidelined with their respective knocks.
