Defender Motjeka Madisha feels it is crucial Mamelodi Sundowns start their CAF Champions League group stages campaign on a high note when they host St George at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Madisha, who has impressed for the Brazilians this season, is eager to help the African champions retain the trophy they won in November last year.
"It will not be the first time I play in the Champions League but it will be the first time to play against a team from Ethiopia,” says Madisha ahead of today's 17h00 kick-off.
"The team spirit is high and we look forward to doing well in our first game. We have our target where we want to achieve certain objectives with the points. The first three games will be crucial to get the nine points if we can."
Meanwhile, Downs skipper Hlompho Kekana is hungry for more continental success.
“It will be special as players to retain this big trophy and bring it back to South Africa. When we first took part in this tournament we never thought of winning it but it's possible and we can try and do it again."
Pitso Mosimane's men can expect a challenge in Atteridgeville, according to Highlands Park's Ethiopian hitman Fikru Tefera. Tefera insists his former club will give the Brazilians a hard time.
