Mamelodi Sundowns ace Teko Modise focused on final two league games

Posted: 11 May 2017 Time: 12:02

Mamelodi Sundowns veteran Teko Modise believes the team must simply focus on winning their remaining two games as the race for the championship goes down to the wire.

Sundowns, who trail log leaders Bidvest Wits by two points, will end their league campaign with matches against top-eight contenders Maritzburg United at home on May 17 and struggling Highlands Park away on May 27.

Downs will first face St George of Ethiopia in their CAF Champions League Group C opener at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday (17h00).

"It is tough and there is no claiming that you will win any of the remaining fixtures. Teams are looking to escape relegation and some are gunning for the trophy," Modise told his official website in the wake of his side's 2-2 draw with relegation-threatened Baroka in Tshwane last night.

"It will not be easy but we have to stay focused and take it a game at a time. We start with the United match and aim for three points. Then we can focus on the last hurdle and hope that luck is on our side. Let us see what happens."
