Free State Stars coach Serame Letsoaka has called for a continued fight from his players to avoid relegation following their victory over Bidvest Wits.
Ea Lla Koto recorded an important 3-1 victory over the Clever Boys to maintain their unbeaten run at home against the Braamfontein-based club since 2013.
Letsoaka revealed how his game plan worked just as they had discussed and was delighted with his charges' efforts in making sure they capitalise on their advantages.
"We had a plan coming into this game and today the plan did work," Letsoaka told SuperSport TV. "We were well aware of the fact that they had been playing too many games in recent times.
"We knew that fatigue would come in a bit and we played a counter-attack, I think it worked very well for us. The counters that we did were very effective.
"They were strong in certain areas periodically, but the boys handled the pressure and I'm happy that we have three points today, it eases a little bit of pressure on the position that we are in at the moment.
"If these boys can play the next two games like we did today it tells you that we are not even going to smell relegation."
With the threat of relegation still staring the Bethlehem-based side in the face, Letsoaka says the players and fans are well aware of what is at stake with just two games left of the campaign.
"In this area [Bethlehem] we'll be starved of football if Free State Stars were to be relegated, and they [players] know how important it is [to stay in the PSL]," he added.
"The players know that once the team is relegated things will be different, so they are fighting for their lives, their families and for themselves to say 'we don't want to see this team relegated'.
"The fight you saw today [against Wits] was a fight of people who are in dire need of making sure they continue to have their jobs at Free State Stars."
