Amajita's U-20 World Cup preparations may be hampered as Bidvest Wits are reportedly reluctant to release Phakamani Mahlambi and Reeve Frosler for the event before their last game on May 27.
The FIFA competition kicks off on May 20 in South Korea.
Wits are in prime position for their maiden league triumph as they hold a three-point lead on champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the summit with three matches remaining against Free State Stars, Polokwane City and Kaizer Chiefs.
According to a source close to the Students, the club has written a letter to SAFA regarding striker Mahlambi and defender Frosler linking up later with Thabo Senong's squad.
“The club wrote a letter to SAFA on Friday. They are demanding to keep both Mahlambi and Frosler at least up until their last game against Kaizer Chiefs on May 27,” says the source.
Clever Boys coach Gavin Hunt referred comment on the issue to club CEO Jose Ferreira, who declined to give an interview.
“I am not ready to comment to the media,” Ferreira tells KickOff.com.
