Diamond Thopola: Home wins key to Chippa United's survival

Posted: 6 May 2017 Time: 11:55

Chippa United defender Diamond Thopola feels it is crucial the relegation-threatened team wins their two remaining home league games.

Chippa, who are a point above the drop zone with four matches left, will host Ajax Cape Town at 15h00 at Buffalo City Stadium in East London.

The Chilli Boys will afterwards visit bottom-club Highlands Park before entertaining SuperSport United in the league and Nedbank Cup semi-finals before concluding their campaign with a trip to fellow strugglers Free State Stars on May 27.

"It's important to start winning our home games. We do no want to go to Free State in a position where we must win at all costs," Thopola told his club's website.

The Bafana Bafana newcomer said United is well aware of what Ajax brings to the table.

"The two teams are aware of each others' strength. We are focusing on our game though, and must work hard to win.

"There are no easy games as everyone at this stage of the season is fighting for something. The most important thing for us is to take ourselves out of the situation we put ourselves in."
