Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele garnered little joy from picking up his third man-of-the-match award of the season after the 2-2 draw with SuperSport United.
Amakhosi looked on course for victory against Matsatsantsa over the weekend, but Aubrey Modiba scored a late equaliser to severely dent the Glamour Boys' title hopes.
Mphahlele told his club's website: "It’s good to be recognised, but what’s an individual award when the team is not collecting maximum points? We will regroup though and fix our mistakes before the next game."
The former Mamelodi Sundowns skipper conceded Steve Komphela's side desperately needed the maximum return after losing 3-2 to title rivals Cape Town City in their previous outing.
"We needed this win badly. After the loss in Cape Town last week we went into this one with the aim of making a quick turnaround. We let ourselves down by letting SuperSport come back twice and also for not converting our opportunities."
Mphahlele is adamant the Soweto giants will not give up chasing down the frontrunners with four matches remaining.
"We will go back to the training ground to fix our mistakes. We can’t give up. We will keep working as a team to win the next matches."
Chiefs, in fourth place on the table with 46 points from 26 games, next welcome top-eight hopefuls Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
