Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch will still be undergoing surgery this week despite his surprise inclusion in the starting line-up last night against Chippa United.
Pirates had indicated that Lorch will miss the rest of the season after he goes under the knife this week having injured his shoulder against Highlands Park on April 15.
Despite Lorch’s injury Pirates still took the gamble of throwing him into the starting line-up before then withdrawing him at half-time.
“He is going to be out for the rest of the season now but it was a little chance to play him today,” says Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret.
“We thought let us take a chance with Lorch today but he had some pain in the shoulder and at the same time he hasn’t trained with us so I think he was a little bit tired there. But Lorch is going to be a future great player at Pirates after having taken big steps but right he was a bit unlucky with the shoulder so we had to take care of that."
Word is that the 23-year-old, recalled in January from his loan at the Chilli Boys, has been booked in for a mid-week surgery.
