Serame Letsoaka rues Free State Stars missed chances against Polokwane City

Free State Stars coach Serame Letsoaka rued his side's wastefulness in front of goal as they suffered their 13th defeat of the season to Polokwane City on Saturday.

Stars succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home as they continue to stare relegation straight in the face, with just four games remaining.

Letsoaka admitted his side were simply unconvincing in the final third.

"It was really a difficult game for us, and not difficult in the sense that there was pressure against us but that we just missed too many chances," he told SABC.

"I think in the second half we camped in their half, they created maybe one chance. [Iin the] first half they created three chances and from those they got the one goal.

"You create plenty of chances but you cannot get it into the back of the net, and our final entrances – that last shot, the decision for you to get the ball inside – didn't happen today."

Letsoaka was also critical of his side conceding in the "critical phases" of the match.

"[I felt] bad because those are the things we talk about – the crictical phase. After 33 seconds you can't be [conceding] a goal in that time," he lamented.

"We are the ones who were in possession of the ball from the start of the game, we gave it away and they scored. The difference was sleeping at that time, but these are things we'll really have to work on.

"Their second goal also came in the critical phase [44th minute] and those are things you always make players aware of. Everyday these are things you work on – the critical phase. But it's a game of football and mistakes do happen."
