KickOff.com has learnt that Orlando Pirates could be set to release right back Thembela Sikhakhane at the end of this season after his failure to establish himself at the club.
Sikhakhane joined Pirates during the off-season from Golden Arrows when Muhsin Ertugral took over but has yet to cement a place in the team despite having featured earlier in the season.
The 24-year-old from Ulundi last featured in 2-2 draw against Cape Town City in February in what was the last match then caretaker coach Augusto Palacios oversaw before the club appointed Kjell Jonevret.
The Swede hasn't selected Sikhakhane since he took over and has preferred Thabo Matlaba and Ntshikelelo Nyauza at the right back position.
"Pirates are not happy with Sikhakhane's contributions since he arrived at the club and there's talk behind the scenes that he's one of players that will be released at the end of the season," a source tells KickOff.com.
Sikhakhane featured in over 50 matches during his time at Abafana Bes'thende.
