Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono felt his NFD side proved the equals of PSL counterparts Chippa United in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday.
Cosmos lost 1-0 via Lerato Manzini's 72nd minute strike at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, but Sono was nonetheless proud of his men's efforts in Port Elizabeth.
"They gave a good account of themselves, I think they played very, very well," Sono told SuperSport TV.
"If you look at our goalkeeper [Thabo Modiba], the only thing he had to do was to pick up the ball in the net and that was it. Especially in the second half we improved and got better as the match went on and on. I'm very proud of them and maybe also this will encourage them in their next eight [Ed: seven] games in the league."
He added: "There was no difference between the premier and the NFD, there was no difference. We took control in the second half, they kept possession but not that dangerous possession because they were playing just in front of us, and we were happy for them to play in front of us. They got that one chance and they used it, that is professional."
Ezenkosi are 11th in the second-tier standings with 31 points from 23 matches, and next host title contenders Black Leopards on Wednesday.
