Cristiano Ronaldo wants Real Madrid fans to stop booing

Cristiano Ronaldo has pleaded with Real Madrid fans to stop booing him after he helped the Spanish side beat Bayern Munich to progress to the last four of the Champions League.

The Portuguese forward scored a hat-trick, which included his 100th goal in the Champions League, as Real beat their German opponents 4-2 on the night and 6-3 on aggregate.

However, the four-time World Player of the Year was jeered by the home crowd in the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu after a few wayward shots.

The 32-year-old Ronaldo told Spanish TV station Antena 3 after the game: "I'm not asking them to name streets after me, the only thing I ask is that they don't boo me here.

"I want them to stop booing me because I always give my best and even when I don't score I try to help Real Madrid."

Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane heaped praise on his star forward but said that Real Madrid players had to get used to the pressure from supporters.

The French mentor said: "Perhaps the fans won't boo him anymore, but this is the Bernabeu and it can happen from time to time and he knows that.

"The only thing he did was to stay calm and he proved himself on the pitch. There are few players that are always there in the key moments, and the fans will be grateful for what Cristiano has done here."
