Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo wants more of the same from Mark Mayambela following his display in the 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows on Saturday at Princess Magogo Stadium.
The former Orlando Pirates playmaker is excelling in a free role in the final third, and unluckily had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside against Arrows. He also tested goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumede with a ferocious shot in the 28th minute from range, and again with an effort in the box late on.
Mayambela also made an impact in Ajax's previous two games, notably scoring the winner in the club's first victory of the year over fellow strugglers Highlands Park on Wednesday.
"Mark has his moments and he has to keep that, and in the meantime he has to keep the shape and organisation and at the moment he does that," Menzo said.
"He's favourable for the team now and like against Highlands Park, pity he didn't score [against Arrows].
"Of course he had two great chances and actually he scored and it was not offside."
Meanwhile, the Dutchman felt Ajax deserved more than a point from their trip to KwaMashu.
"Yes, I think we deserved more than a draw and that is why I'm standing here with mixed feelings because when you come to Golden Arrows, you know it's going to be difficult," he said.
"We controlled the game and I think the first half we played well, created chances. But we've got to score and actually we scored but the goal was denied and it was not offside and that hurts.
"Then we conceded an unnecessary goal and we had to show character at that moment in the first and the second half.
"At the end, I'm glad that we equalised and almost won it as well. So it's mixed feelings and yes we deserved [to win] rather than one point."
The Urban Warriors next visit champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday, having won the reverse fixture 2-0 in November.
