Kjell Jonevret says Siyabonga Mpontshane is taking his chance in goal for Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane looks set to retain the number one jersey when the Buccaneers host Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium tonight.

Mpontshane got his second start for Pirates since coach Kjell Jonevret arrived in the country in February when he stood in the 4-1 win over Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.

Fellow keeper Brighton Mhlongo made his 14th league appearance of the season when Bucs lost 3-2 to Ea Lla Koto in a previous match.

Jonevret is happy with the efforts of Mpontshane, who has barely featured for the Sea Robbers since joining them from Platinum Stars in January 2015.

"I don’t look too much in the past season," Jonevret tells KickOff.com.

"Everybody in the squad has the same chance to play. He [Mpontshane] is one of the guys that has taken his chance. Hopefully he will continue with that," adds the Swede.
