Paez: We want to win this cup

Kaizer Chiefs' two-goal hero Gustavo Paez feels the side did well to show their fighting spirit against Acornbush United in the "virtually unbearable" conditions in Kabokweni on Sunday.
With a rough-and-tumble pitch and soaring temperatures in Mpumalanga, Amakhosi looked out of sorts in their Nedbank Cup last-16 clash yesterday, going behind to their ABC Motsepe League opponents on 41 minutes, despite the hosts having gone down to 10 men only midway through the first-half.
However, Chiefs coach Steve Komphela managed to pull one out the bag with the introduction of Paez in the closing stages of the tie, with the Venezuelan going on to fire home an eight-minute brace to rescue the game and send the Glamour Boys through to the quarter-finals.
And, speaking to Chiefs' official website after the game, Paez said: “This is an important win for the club. We realised that time was not on our side as the game progressed, we had to do something different to win this match.
“The coach made the necessary changes when we were trailing, and that became the turning point for us.”
He continued: “We didn’t want to go to extra-time and the penalties because that would have been a lotto scenario. We want to win this cup. However, we take it step-by-step and one game at the time.”
