Makola eyeing Nedbank Cup prize

Orlando Pirates man of the match against Free State Stars, Mpho Makola, believes the team is on track to win the Nedbank Cup.

Makola opened the scoring in a 4-1 victory in the Free State on Saturday and set up the fourth goal for Thebinkosi Lorch.

“We are happy that we’re through to the next round of the competition. It wasn’t an was game but we fought as a team and we got the desired result,” he said on SuperSport TV.

“We went back to the drawing board after last week’s game [losing 3-2 to Stars] and we were a bit aggressive last week and we came today and also needed to be a bit aggressive and in so doing that, we got the desired result.”

The midfielder indicated that the team is united in their vision of lifting the cup at the end of the season.

“We had goals that we wanted to achieve this season and one of those goals was to win the Nedbank Cup. So far it’s been good and we’re happy with that, so we’re just hopeful that we can go through to the final and eventually win it for the chairman and for the supporters as well,” he concluded.
