Thembinkosi Lorch says Orlando Pirates' success is what matters

Thembinkosi Lorch says he can't be happy with how well he has fitted in at Orlando Pirates since his return from two consecutive loan spells given the team’s struggles.

Lorch had been away on loan at Cape Town All Stars and then Chippa United through the first 18 months of his contract with Pirates – only then returning to his mother club at the beginning of this year.

“I won’t talk about myself alone because we are in the team and if the team is not doing well I am not going to be happy. So I have to make the team win to feel that I am doing a great job,” he argues with good reason while making note of just how much more effort needs to be put in at Pirates.

“Pressure is everywhere even though here [at Pirates] it is more because this is a big team. So obviously the supporters are looking to you to deliver so you have to put more effort when you are playing.”

Having faced Free State Stars a week ago, Lorch is well aware of what kind of opponents Ea Lla Koto are ahead of their second meeting this weekend.

While last Saturday’s tie was a league match which Pirates lost, this weekend’s match is a Nedbank Cup game being played at the same venue in Orkney.

“They are a very good team and it is very difficult to play against them at their home ground because they are very aggressive. So since yesterday we have been planning for them and we have to use our strength to win the game. It will obviously not be easy but we have to go there and win while playing as a team.”
