Wome: Pirates will fight on

Orlando Pirates forward Dove Wome believes the club will soon get out of the slump that has left them uncomfortably near to the drop zone.
Wome is singing a war cry of fighting on for that league win that has proven elusive since his arrival at the club at the end of January.
“When I came in what I saw was that the team has the qualities to win the games but I don’t really know what is happening. As players we will keep on fighting until we get a win in the bag,” says Wome.
The Togolese admits that as an attacking player it has really been difficult to also get his rhythm going in a struggling team whose only win in the last 13 games has come against amateur club EC Bees in the first round of the Nedbank Cup.
He also notes that there is absolutely no need to point fingers at the defenders with The Bucs having conceded in eight of the nine games that they have played this year.
“For an attacking [player] to join a team like this [struggling] they expect more from you to deliver so there is a little bit of pressure to work hard so as to be on top of your game. It is a big challenge for someone to come in this situation so they expecting you to help them get out of there so there is more pressure on us players. We are not going to blame the defenders now because the defending starts from upfront and us as the strikers we also need to defend properly. We need to put pressure on the [opposition's] defence so that the ball doesn’t come easily. So, we, as the strikers are involved in the defence positions so we will not blame the defenders,” he notes.
