Chippa United coach Dan Malesela doubts defender Diamond Thopola will recover in time for Saturday's clash with Polokwane City at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (15h00).
The fullback missed Chippa's 4-1 loss at log leaders Cape Town City last night after sustaining an injury on international duty with Bafana Bafana.
Malesela told his club's website: “We are not going to point fingers at anyone, but it is just coincidental that he came back injured and for the third time now.
“We will wait for the medical report, but the game on Saturday comes too soon for him.”
The Chilli Boys are also without striker Lerato Manzini who is suspended following his dismissal at Athlone Stadium.
'Dance' accepts his men were poor against the Citizens.
“We had a horrible time from the start. After conceding the first, then second we had to start switching on and think differently, but things didn’t go our way today. It happens sometimes in football.
“We must give credit to City, their position on the log table is a fluke. They showed their quality again this evening.
“This is not the time to start hammering the players, it is the first time we have played like this in this season and conceded four.
“We must find solutions. It is our duty to help the players, and put an arm around them.”
Malesela's side are 10th on the table with 23 points from 22 matches - three points shy of eighth-placed Maritzburg United, and three points above the drop zone.
