Chippa United defender Kristopher Bergman is looking forward to playing Cape Town City at Athlone Stadium tonight on his return to the Mother City.
“It’s going to be good. You know we don’t have too many games played in Cape Town… obviously there’s only two teams [Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City] there. But it will be nice going back there and play at home and hopefully we do well as that’s the most important thing for the team no matter where we play,” Bergman tells KickOf.com ahead of the 19h30 kick-off.
Bergman, who was born in Cape Town, expects to see his family in the stands.
“Hopefully, I know my family will be there. But I know they are always there and hopefully we will have some fans on the stands there supporting Chippa United as well.”
The former Cape Town All Stars right-back says they’ve been focusing on their tactics during the FIFA international break.
“We had a bit of time off during the international break, so our preparations haven’t been too much different from what we’ve been used to. We’ve just been focusing on our own tactics and what we need to do to hopefully become victorious.”
He adds: “We don’t want to be where we are right now [position 10th on the Premiership table]. We want to be higher and we know that we have a talented squad and that we should be higher on the log. But they [management] don’t want to put us under too much pressure, but we are expected to at least be in the top eight come the end of the season.”
